Free Gold Price per Gram Calculator

Convert a gold price per troy ounce, gram, 10 grams, tola or kilogram into pure-gold and karat-specific prices per gram. The calculator shows 24K, 23K, 22K, 21K, 20K, 18K, 14K, 10K and 9K rates in the currency you select.

Gold Price per Gram Calculator

Enter a current gold price and its unit. The tool converts it to a pure-gold rate per gram, then calculates common karat and fineness prices.

A precious-metals ounce means a troy ounce, not a standard household ounce.
Use a positive number for a premium or a negative number for a discount. Leave 0 for the unadjusted rate.

This tool does not fetch or redistribute a live benchmark. Enter a current price you are permitted to use. Estimates exclude taxes, making charges, fabrication, delivery, insurance and dealer spread unless you include them in the adjustment field.

Reviewed on 15 July 2026 using World Gold Council weight and carat information, Bureau of Indian Standards hallmarking guidance, and LBMA precious-metal benchmark documentation.

A gold price per gram helps you compare jewelry, coins, bars and dealer quotes that use different weight units. This calculator converts the rate you enter to a fine-gold basis, then applies each karat or fineness percentage to produce comparable per-gram and per-10-gram estimates.

Quick answer: Enter a current gold price, choose whether it is quoted per troy ounce, gram, 10 grams, tola or kilogram, and select the purity basis of that quote. Add an optional premium or discount, then calculate the 24K, 22K, 18K, 14K and other rates.

How the Gold Price per Gram Calculator Works

The tool first divides the entered price by the number of grams in the selected unit. If the entered quote is for 22K, 18K or another purity, it converts that quote to a fine-gold basis. It then applies the optional premium or discount and multiplies the adjusted fine-gold rate by each output purity.

Fine-gold price per gram = entered price ÷ grams in selected unit ÷ quoted-purity percentage
Karat price per gram = adjusted fine-gold price per gram × karat purity percentage

Gold Price per Troy Ounce to Price per Gram

Gold is commonly quoted in troy ounces. One troy ounce equals 31.1034768 grams. When the quote represents one fine troy ounce, divide it by 31.1034768 to estimate the fine-gold price per gram.

Gold price per gram = gold price per troy ounce ÷ 31.1034768
Do not use 28.3495 grams: that is the approximate weight of an avoirdupois ounce used for many everyday goods. Precious metals use the heavier troy ounce.

Karat and fineness describe gold content, but recognized grades and legal minimums differ by country. BIS guidance for India lists hallmarking grades including 14K585, 18K750, 20K833, 22K916, 23K958 and 24KS995.

Worked Gold Price per Gram Example

Assume an illustrative fine-gold price of CU 3,110.34768 per troy ounce, where CU means any currency unit. With no premium or discount:

  • Fine-gold price per gram = CU 3,110.34768 ÷ 31.1034768 = CU 100.00
  • 24K / 999 price per gram = CU 100.00 × 0.999 = CU 99.90
  • 22K / 916 price per gram = CU 100.00 × 0.916 = CU 91.60
  • 18K / 750 price per gram = CU 100.00 × 0.750 = CU 75.00
  • 14K / 585 price per gram = CU 100.00 × 0.585 = CU 58.50

This round-number example explains the formula. It is not a current gold quote or a prediction.

Spot Price vs Retail Gold Price per Gram

Spot or benchmark referenceA wholesale-market reference commonly quoted per fine troy ounce. Access, use and redistribution of benchmark data may require permission or a licence.
Bullion retail priceMay include fabrication, mint, dealer, delivery, insurance and product premiums above the metal reference.
Jewelry priceMay include alloy weight, making charges, wastage, stones, brand margin and taxes in addition to gold content.
Buyback or scrap priceMay be below estimated metal value after assay, refining, handling and dealer deductions.

The calculator's premium or discount field applies one percentage to the converted fine-gold rate. It does not itemize every charge. Use the Gold Jewelry Price Calculator when you need separate making charges and taxes.

How to Use a 22K or 18K Quoted Rate

If your source already gives a 22K price per 10 grams, enter that amount, select “per 10 grams,” and choose “22K / 916 quoted rate.” The tool normalizes the quote to a fine-gold price per gram before calculating all other grades. The same method works for an 18K / 750 quote.

Use a current permitted price: gold rates can change during the day and vary by currency, location, product and dealer. This page does not claim to provide a live gold rate. Check the timestamp, unit, currency and purity basis of the source you use.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I convert gold price per ounce to price per gram?
Divide the fine-gold price per troy ounce by 31.1034768. Then multiply the result by the relevant purity percentage when you need a 22K, 18K, 14K or other karat price.
How is 22K gold price per gram calculated?
After finding the adjusted fine-gold price per gram, multiply it by 0.916 for a 22K / 916 estimate. If your source already quotes a 22K rate, select 22K / 916 as the entered-price basis so the calculator does not apply purity twice.
Is 24K gold exactly 100% pure?
In everyday language, 24K describes pure or near-pure gold. Fineness marks provide a more precise standard. This calculator shows 24K / 999 at 99.9% and also displays a separate fine-gold reference rate.
How many grams are in one troy ounce of gold?
One troy ounce equals 31.1034768 grams. Do not confuse it with the avoirdupois ounce of about 28.3495 grams.
Does this calculator show today's live gold price?
No. Enter a current price from a source you are permitted to use. The tool performs unit, purity and premium calculations but does not fetch or redistribute a live benchmark feed.
How do I convert gold price per 10 grams to per gram?
Divide the 10-gram price by 10. Choose “per 10 grams” in the calculator and it performs this conversion before adjusting for the quoted purity.
How do I convert gold price per tola to per gram?
This calculator uses approximately 11.6638038 grams per tola. It divides the entered tola price by that value, then adjusts for the purity basis you select.
Why is a jeweler's gold price per gram higher than the converted spot price?
A retail quote may include product premium, making charges, wastage, stones, tax, delivery, insurance and dealer margin. The converted spot price represents metal value, not necessarily the final invoice price.
What does the premium or discount field do?
It increases or decreases the normalized fine-gold price by the percentage entered before the calculator derives each karat price. It is a single mathematical adjustment, not a tax or fee breakdown.
Is the calculated gold price per gram guaranteed?
No. Results depend on your entered price, unit, purity and adjustment. Actual dealer quotes may differ because of timing, exchange rates, product specifications, taxes, fees and spread.
